The Byte Size Coaching program is in three main parts - the U4 to U6 which contains the very beginner player - 4-year and 5-year old's.  This program need to be conducted in a very special way.  It should not be confrontational as young players take their first kicks in the game.  We have recommended a One-with-One format where Mom or Dad or a family member becomes the young child's first team mate and so in a non-intimidating environment lots of fun pair activities can take place.  A master-facilitator organizes and conducts the session.  A game format is introduced in the latter stages of the program.

From U7 to U12 (and possibly at U6) the young players are placed in teams and play small-sided soccer (3 vs. 3 to 8 vs.8) until moving into 11 vs. 11 at U13.

The U7 to U12 program is designed for the Parent Coach who may have limited knowledge of coaching ad may not have played the game.  The idea is to put together a team practice session that is age-appropriate and will guarantee fun and skills development mainly in a game environment where the "Game becomes the Teacher.”

The practice session format is in 4 or 5 parts...

  • First part is the Warm-Up for 8 to 10 minutes.

  • 2nd is a Skills Game for 8 to 10 minutes.

  • 3rd is a Skills Developer for 8 to 10 minutes.

  • 4th for older players (U9 to U12) is another Skills Developer for 8 to 10 minutes.

  • Finally a free small sided game or tournament -10 to 15 minutes

Youngest player session length 45 - 50 minutes.  Older players 60 minutes.
